👋 Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Libraire website, web application, and related services (collectively, the "Service"), operated by Libraire ("we", "our", or "us").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

🔑 Accounts and Eligibility

• You must be at least 13 years old to use Libraire. If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent.
• You must provide accurate and complete information when creating your account.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Notify us immediately at hi@bookbriefai.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
• One account per person. You may not share your account with others or create multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits.

📋 Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You must not:

• Input text or content that you do not have the legal right to reproduce or process.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or exploit the AI models or APIs underlying the Service.
• Use automated scripts, bots, or crawlers to access the Service without express written permission.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or to our backend systems.
• Use the Service to generate content that is illegal, harmful, defamatory, or infringes third-party intellectual property rights.
• Resell, redistribute, or commercialise the Service or its outputs without our prior written consent.
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.

📖 Copyright and Intellectual Property

Libraire is designed to create transformative AI-generated summaries of books. When you provide book titles or excerpts:

• You represent that you have the right to use the input material for the purpose of generating a personal summary.
• Generating a summary for personal study, research, or non-commercial use generally constitutes fair use, but we make no legal guarantee. You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with applicable copyright law in your jurisdiction.
• You must not use the Service to create substitutes for entire copyrighted works or to circumvent purchasing books.

All Libraire software, designs, logos, and original content are our intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute them without permission.

🤖 AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

Summaries produced by Libraire are generated by large language models and are provided for informational and educational purposes only.

• AI summaries may contain inaccuracies, omissions, or misrepresentations of the source material.
• Do not rely on AI summaries for academic submissions, medical, legal, financial, or other professional decisions without verifying against the original source.
• We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose of the generated content.

💳 Subscriptions and Billing

• The Free trial is available at no cost for a limited period (currently 7 days from account creation, up to 2 summaries) as described on our Pricing page.
• Paid plans (Pro, Growth) are billed monthly via Stripe. All prices are shown in USD and exclude any applicable taxes.
• Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date.
• You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Access to paid features continues until the end of the current billing period — no partial refunds for unused time.
• We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice to subscribers via email.
• If a payment fails, we will attempt to retry. After repeated failures, your account may be downgraded to the Free plan.

🚫 Suspension and Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you:

• Violate these Terms.
• Engage in behaviour that harms other users, us, or third parties.
• Fail to pay for a paid subscription after reasonable attempts to collect payment.

We will endeavour to give reasonable notice before suspension except in cases of serious or repeated violations. You may appeal a suspension by emailing hi@bookbriefai.com.

You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. Upon deletion, your data will be removed within 30 days in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

⚖️ Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:

• The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
• We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
• We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.
• Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or USD $50 if you are a free-plan user.

🌍 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

🔄 Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
